about

NIGHT reflects the peace of night time in contrast to the daily grind of the Drover’s work, and how every natural sound seems to be amplified. Its quiet mood follows a couple of more energetic tracks and feels a bit like the calm after a storm. It also hints at the damage that endless physical work can do to a person.

lyrics

NIGHT

The hillside shades the setting sun
Fiery dance ignites the sky
Till shadow light and harvest moon
Twilight in the darkened room.

Silence fractured by a breeze,
Endless rippling of a stream,
Firewood crackling in the fire
A distant owl, an eerie cry.

A cockerel calls the breaking day
And waking larks rise through the grey
Weary bones and tired eyes
Back to work. It’s time to rise.
