We live in denial that the resource that sustains life is not in infinite supply. Water shortage has been with us for decades, even in the developed world, yet we continue to waste it on power washing cars and drives (500 litres an hour), few gardeners use grey water (washing up water) on their plants etc.. Cape Town recently came very close to running out of water altogether. California has suffered more than five years of drought. London is drier than Istanbul, and the Environment Agency’s own data shows that the water courses of South East England are drier than parts of North Africa. Dry The Life.

DRY THE LIFE You can dry the life out of me And you can ta ke the salt from the sea But I’m thirsty till the rain Comes back to me again You can dry the life out of me You can pour your poison in the well You can signal danger with a bell But I’m thirsty till it’s full Among the cattle skulls While you pour your poison in the well You can dry the life out of me And you can take the salt from the sea But I’m thirsty till the rain Comes back to me again You can dry the life out of me You could make it safe for the one in ten You could bring good health to their children So when you cash your shares And turn the tap upstairs Think about the danger you put them in You can dry the life out of me You can take the salt from the sea I’m thirsty till the rain Comes back to me again You can dry the life out of me Words & Music by John Reed © John Reed April 2016 All Rights Reserved First released as a single July 15, 2016

about

Dry The Life only happened because of a chance conversation with a good friend about odd shaped instruments. That led to me borrowing an N'goni he was gifted in Australia by a Ghanaian. Eight days later the original version of Dry The Life was recorded and mixed - the opening song. The EP comprises three very different versions of the song, a remix of a song from Moorscape, and three new songs that didn't quite fit with the theme of protest in next year's album. We think it's different, combining British folk with a bit of jazz-blues and a slice of progressive rock. But now it's for others to judge!
